For bikes with electromagnet alternators the rectifier and voltage regulator built into one unit
|
All of my VRR4-H series regulator / rectifier units are the same other than the length of wire and plugs that connect
them to the bike's wiring harness but the are otherwise exactly the same.

VRREM4-H3
The VRREM4-H1 can be used
on 1969~1978 SOHC Honda
fours with this adapter kit
Includes all the connectors and
instructions for adapting the VRR4-H1 for
use on the earlier SOHC fours but you
will still need to figure out the mounting
of the unit for yourself.
$6.00 (Only with the purchase of a VRREM4)

The 550 Nighthawk has some known
problems with the charging system and I
highly recomenend testing the stator and
charging coil before ordering one of these
units.
I have added troubleshooting information for these bikes on my FAQ page.

a XJ1100
Note: Some of the early XS750s used a different type of voltage regulator than the later 750, 850 and 1100. The
later bikes had full power from the brown wire to the field coil and the green wire from the field goes to the
regulator. On these the regulator would ground the green wire as needed to complete the circuit. The earlier bikes
had one wire from the field grounded and would get positive from the regulator to complete the circuit. To use this
unit on the earlier bikes you will need to modify the wiring on your bike to match that on the later bikes. It is a one
wire change and you can eMail me for help with this.

This unit was created at the request of HVC Cycle and they will be marketing it for the first year of production. This unit is built
using my time tested VR2 series voltage regulator and the same rectifier I make and have used on several of my VRR series
regulator/rectifier units. This R/R unit bolts neatly into the space previously occupied by the stock voltage regulator and comes
with all the connectors and hardware needed to connect it up.
I also make a version of the unit above for the RD400 Yamaha with different plugs and longer leads. The VRREM3-
RD400 requires a little work to custom mount it on a RD400. HVC Cycle is marketing this part for me along with the
VRREM5. You can contact them for more information.

Like with all Oregon Motorcycle Parts regulator/rectifier units, full charging is reached by 1200RPM. We feel
that much of the problem with OEM regulator/rectifier units is that they are made too small and the heat from the
rectifier is dumped into the voltage regulator and slowly cooking it. Leaving an airspace between the rectifier and
voltage regulator is part of our design philosophy.
We have been unable to obtain the OEM plugs Honda uses to connect the regulator/rectifier unit. Our
VRR6ST11 unit comes with a connector harness with 6" of wire and the necessary supplies to splice it to the
wiring harness on your ST1100.
The regulator/rectifier unit above is our VRREM4-H1. All
VRREM4 units look like the picture below but have different plugs
and wire lengths.
